  • CHANGES TO OUR SERVICE

    From 1st April Sefton Sexual Health Service will be delivered by Brook. There will be some temporary adjustments to the service for the period leading up to the change in provider and more up to date information will be available here in the coming weeks.

    From 24th March asymptomatic (no symptoms) screening will not be carried out in clinics whilst we transfer to Brook.  Home testing kits will not be available from 14th March until 1st April.

Viral Hepatitis

Hepatitis A is a virus that infects the liver. It is also present in the blood and faeces (poo) of someone who has the infection. There is a vaccination available for high risk groups.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a blood-borne virus that affects the liver. It can be diagnosed by a blood test. There is an effective vaccination available to prevent people getting hepatitis B and we recommend and provide it for people who are at risk of catching it sexually.

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus affecting the liver. The most common way to catch it is by sharing contaminated needles, spoons, and filters to inject drugs. If you have the hepatitis C virus you will be referred to a liver specialist.
