  • Vaccinations to Protect You and Others

    If you are at a high risk of infection from mpox or gonorrhoea you are now able to have vaccinations to protect against these infections.  Having these vaccines will help protect you and others by reducing the spread of infections. Contact us to speak with a clinician about your options.

  • Missed Appointments

    In November 2025 184 appointments were missed.  Each missed appointment costs the NHS £150 approx.  Cancelling your appointment in advance, as soon as you can, helps us to offer the appointment to another patient in need. Please call us to cancel your appointment if you know you are no longer able to attend. Thank you

Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection easily passed on during sex. Most people with chlamydia don’t notice any symptoms and don’t know they have it. If you develop symptoms, you may experience:

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection easily passed on during sex. Most people with chlamydia don’t notice any symptoms and don’t know they have it. If you develop symptoms, you may experience:

  • pain when urinating
  • unusual discharge from your vagina, penis or rectum (back passage)
  • in women – pain in the tummy, bleeding during or after sex and bleeding between periods
  • in men – pain and swelling in the testicles

Although chlamydia doesn’t always cause any symptoms, if left untreated, the infection can lead to long-term health problems, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), epididymo-orchitis (inflammation of the testicles) and infertility.

How to order a Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing kit

This test is for people who have no symptoms and who live in Sefton and are over 16 years of age. If you are under 16 and have concerns please contact our  service.
