Contraceptive Injection

There are two types available, DepoProvera and Sayana Press.

If used correctly, the contraceptive injection is more than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. If you are using DepoProvera, we will give you a date to return for your next injection in 12 weeks time. The Sayana Press is self-administered and women are instructed to inject every 13 weeks.

The injection can be useful for women who might forget to take the contraceptive pill every day and for those who can’t use contraception that contains oestrogen. It’s not affected by medication.
