All About Us
Welcome to Sefton Sexual Health Service. We are a free NHS service providing STI testing and treatment, contraception, HIV services, sexual health promotion and training, psychosexual counseling and clinical outreach in Sefton, Merseyside.
Our service is confidential, non-judgemental and is for anyone.
Our service vision is to provide a high quality, fully integrated and holistic sexual health service that is accessible and meets the needs of our local community.
The team is made up of both clinical staff (consultants, doctors, nurses, psychosexual counselor, health care assistants) and administration staff (receptionists, sexual health health promotion).
What you can expect
We offer a choice of walk-in, or appointment clinics and PACE sessions for under 19s only. You can ask for your preference to be seen by either male or female staff, and we will do our best to accommodate your wishes.
Our Walk In service means that you don’t need to book, however waiting times will vary. If lots of people arrive all at once you may be asked to return later or another time. We will always offer a trained member of staff to speak to who will guide on what your next best option would be.
Sometimes patients are seen in a different order depending on who they need to see.
As we do not have crèche facilities on site, we ask politely if you can arrange childcare prior to attending, or if you have to bring children, please bring someone who can watch them whilst you have your treatment or procedure.
We do not provide pre-marriage screening, travel or emigration certificates for STI screening/HIV or infertility screening test for patients in the private sector. We do not offer hepatitis B vaccinations for occupational health reasons.
Your confidentiality is very important to us, the information that you share will remain confidential with our service.
Very rarely we may not be able to maintain confidentiality if we become concerned about your safety or safety of another person.
If we need to share information with another service, we will make every attempt to discuss this with you.
If you need to be referred onto another service or if your GP needs to know about your care, we will ask your permission first.
Only staff that work in Sefton Sexual Health can access your records with us.
